Fitchburg Youth Library. Fitchburg, MA 2020. Acrylic on Brick. Monique Reverie and Erin Cregg

This 900+ square foot mural was painted in the Summer of 2020 by myself and my colleague Erin Cregg. We collaborated on the artwork design and the implementation of the final product. We wanted to represent the Greek Gods to highlight the Greek community and our own personal interest in Greek Mythology. We knew we wanted to paint diverse characters in this piece it is important all the young people that go to this library get a chance to see themselves in our artwork. We applied for a grant from the Community Development Block Project from Fitchburg and funded this entire project. In our proposal we asked for permission to use the space, showed a timeline, budget, and mock-up concept proposal images. The finished piece came out exactly how we wanted and proved we could do exactly what we proposed only better!

Above is our original mock-up for our proposal, we stayed true to our design but made improvements along the way. We added an owl to represent the Fitchburg Youth Library, added constellations, connected the gods with clouds, and improved the Underworld. We set out to accomplish exactly what we said we would.

Activate Mill Street

A community driven project to foster the development of the arts in Fitchburg

I am an artist and in the Summer of 2019 I got the opportunity to use these skills to become a muralist! I am a proud member of the community of Fitchburg and I advocate for the revitalization of the city. Activate Mill Street sought to transform a forgotten alleyway into a hub for culture and it has accomplished just that! My goal is to use art to communicate with others and through participating in this project I did just that.
